The hybrid battery on my 2002 Prius with 244,600 miles became defective a couple years ago and I debated whether to fix or junk it. Blue book was less than $1k and a refurbished hybrid battery with 12 mo warranty was slightly more than $1k.
Bidenflation worse than the 80s Jimmy Carter era made it cost effective to fix it. I paid over $4.50 pet gallon for my 400 mile round trip to swap my core for a refurbished hybrid battery
I have some experience so I was able to remove the old battery to avoid core charges and drove from home to Phoenix for trading the defective core for a refurbished with 12mo (transferrable) warranty.
MIKE from the Phoenix office was exceptional and courteous in completing the refurb plus working closely with my schedule to coordinate delivery.
I installed the replacement today and all appears to be working so far.
