How do I determine my battery type? Here is a comprehensive document for all Honda NiMH battery types. It also provides directions on where to find the identifiable stickers.
What if I have a CA4 battery? There are two options, we can either swap the computer out for one that is compatible with our replacement battery for $200, or you can take your vehicle to the dealership to get reprogrammed to battery code CA1. We will have the computer on hand if we are installing the battery if you are not sure what type you will have. WARNING! If the computer is not swapped and you plan on driving to the dealership to reprogram, the 12V battery will not be recharged during the drive and you will risk being stranded. It will be similar to driving with a bad alternator, the 12V will slowly loose power and eventually die. The IMA, CEL, and 12V battery light will be on.

We purchased a replacement battery for our 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid, and it’s like the car roared back to life! The battery arrived promptly, and sending back the core was as easy as putting it back in the same box and dropping it off at UPS–no fuss! So far, it’s still going strong. Excellent communication from Greentec staff during the whole process, as well!

I purchased the battery pack for my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. I was absolutely amazed at how easily and cost effectiveness it was for me to do it myself. They answered all the questions I had and now my vehicle is getting close to 48 MPG. Thank you Green Tec for a great product at a good price!

I purchased a GreenTec hybrid battery for my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. The old battery would not hold a charge so a new one was required. The GreenTec battery arrived within 4 days of my purchase and was installed the day after it arrived. The Honda is working perfectly with the new battery and has all the power it used to have when new. Would HIGHLY recommend this company for your hybrid battery replacement.

I had been driving with a dead IMA battery for more than a year, just trying to decide if I wanted to replace the battery in a 05 Civic with 250k miles. I had already replaced the battery in 2016 from another company. After comparing prices, I decided to try GreenTec. Transaction was great, I installed the new battery, and everything has been working good for the last three months. Fuel economy improved from 37mpg to 42mpg, and the car got its pep back. My only complaint is the return shipping is deducted from your core deposit. Not a deal breaker. It is mentioned in at least one place on the website, so they aren’t hiding it, just not as clear as it could be. Some reviews had complaints about bad batteries and poor customer service for warranty issues, but every other company had the same kind of reviews. The people with the poor experiences are always the loudest. As of right now, I would recommend GreenTec.

I bought a new battery for my Honda Accord 2005 in the summer of 2022 because the one that came with my second hand car had reached the end of its life.
I decided to go with this company because of the reviews, price and insurance on the product, but sadly have not had the best experience and just wanted to give others a heads up.
When my old battery was dying my Auto-Stop failed to work consistently and I was receiving 27.9 mpg in the winter in Washington (when it was working I received around 31 mpg in the winter), and had constant codes warning me that my battery was failing.
So I bought a new battery. Easy transaction, the people were nice and helpful and my father and I installed the new one ourselves. Super simple.
Right away my Auto-Stop worked on a consistent basis which I was happy about but that is really the only good part. My mpg has only gone down since I have had the new battery, some might say it isn’t much (my current mpg as of April is 26.7 mpg) but considering before when my old battery was working I was receiving 31 mpg in the winter and around 35 in the summer this has been a disappointment.
To resolve this I called Greentec and they told me it could take several tanks of gas for this to be corrected. In the almost year I have owned it I have gone through many tanks of gas and this has never been fixed.
On top of this, I learned a sign of a dying hybrid battery is the green charge meter on my dash board will get stuck at four bars (this isn’t the battery level which is often at four bars but rather the meter that shows the battery charging when you are breaking or slowing). I called Greentec again to get a new battery because of these two issues and was then informed I needed codes to prove it was failing. That makes sense, but sadly I don’t have any codes to prove it.
So in the end I spent 2k in cash to have a functioning Auto-Stop feature and a diminished fuel economy.

I feel like they stole my money, in the description it says free shipping but in reality you won’t get you core charge fee back because they charge for shipping the core back.

Great customer relations. Easy to talk to, attentive to details and prompt. I received my hybrid battery for Civic, got it installed and got my refund for returning my old hybrid battery super fast. 100% recommend using Greentec Auto.

Ordering was easy. The battery was easy to install. I had a code that was unrelated to the battery, and when I called tech support about it. It took them 5 days to respond. I already figured out the problem by then.Michael

Got my 2003 Civic hybrid back on the road for my mother with this new battery which I replaced myself. She’s getting 42 MPG and couldn’t be happier.

So far on one the 3rd NEW battery, all have failed; 1st batter was shipped to me, when I installed it and started the car immediately, Battery, Check Engine Light and IMA battery light came on. Checked the code, showing P1600 and P1637. Installed old battery, No Codes. Austin had Green Tec in Bowie contact me. 2. Last Friday, Bowie installed another Battery, Same failure. They changed out the module, still failing. They took the car out for a test drive where they received overheating code. checked Fan working fine. They didn’t have anymore 8volt batteries, so they installed a 6 volt, everything appeared to be working. They will replace the 6 volt battery when they get another 8 volt. On my drive home, this battery failed with Check engine light and IMA battery light. I read the Codes P1600 and P1449. So far 0 for 3 on Green Tec batteries, waiting for Bowie Green Tec to Contact me.

My 2005 Civic Hybrid battery was going to be about $2850 for parts and labor through my mechanic, due to his battery source. He fortunately was happy to install a battery from an outside source, and GreenTec saved me close to $1k. The whole process was very smooth, from ordering and paying online, including a call from the sales team to verify they would ship the correct battery, to helping me get connected with my local shop when it was determined it would save me $150 to pick up the battery there rather than have it shipped, to the install by my mechanic, to returning the core. Nicholas in the Portland shop was great to work with, including calling the sales team to make sure my core refund was processed promptly. All in all, an excellent experience, and I will for sure recommend, and use again, GreenTec!

I highly recommend. Thanks Again.

Several months after installing the new battery, I am very pleased. I have had no problems. I ordered the battery on a Wednesday, it was at my door by Friday, and I installed it on Saturday. It all went very well. My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (manual transmission) gets a little over 50 mpg and has ample power.
This battery replacement cost about one-half the cost of the previous replacement.

Recently got an email about my battery purchase which was in Dec. 2014. The IMA battery is still going strong. I would definitely recommend the upgraded battery for the older Civic Hybrid.

The installation went fairly smooth, and the codes cleared just fine. The car has it’s old
pep back. The return shipping was easy. I would gladly do this again.

Battery works great
No complaints about performance … works just like oem battery that came New with the car…. maybe that’s the issue. I chose to buy the 8ah battery. It came with no markings on the housing or any identification on the paperwork that could trace it to prove that it is in fact an 8ah battery and not a 6.5ah
Disappointed with green tec explanation but not willing to exchange the battery for a 6.5 one and spend another 2hours total exchanging batteries to get $ difference between the two

I live in Tampa, Fla and am considering doing the same with them installing. How much difference did the new pack make in mpg and how badly degraded was your old one? Also, how much did they charge you to install?

I purchased the 8.0 Amp upgraded battery for my 2003 Civic Hybrid to replace the second OEM battery. I was considering replacing it myself but decided to get a GreenTec technician to install it. Robert from the Lafayette, LA shop did the install at my house in less than an hour. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Car has a lot more pickup and seems to be smoother operating than before. No more IMA or Check Engine light. Also, I didn’t have to ship the old one back. I would recommend letting the techs do the work.
